When I try to connect it via USB, the Steam Link application crashes.ĭoes anybody have a hint on how to get this controller running? As it was advertised as supporting Bluetooth, I was expecting that it should speak some standard profile for Bluetooth controllers. Of course it doesn't show up in the controller menu on Steam Link either. When I try to connect the controller, it says: "Connection Failed: No usable services on this device". ![]() The device can be paired, but there seems to be a connection issue (indicated by a red X in front of the device). When I try to pair it to the RPi4, it shows up as "XBox Wireless Controller 4416". But the cable is barely long enough for my couch/TV setup, so I bought me a new XBox Wireless Controller (the new one for the XBox Series X/S) and was hoping, that I can connect it via Bluetooth. And of course, the Raspberry Pi has a bunch of uses beyond being a game streaming box, too.I am running Steam Link on a Raspberry 4 and beside occasional connection losses it works like a charm.Ĭurrently I am using an old XBox360 (wired) Controller I bought for my PC a couple of years back. And voilà, you've got a fully functional DIY Steam Link box, easy to connect with a range of gamepads and at $35 probably a lot cheaper than upgrading your router for stutter-free gameplay. Just make sure you're running the "Stretch" version of Pi's OS (which has been default anyway since August 2017) and drop in a few lines ( here). On Monday, Valve's Sam Lantinga announced that the Steam Link app is now available in beta form on the Raspberry Pi 3 and 3 B+. ![]() Valve, however, is offering an alternative, and it comes in the form of Raspberry Pi. ![]() The Steam Link app continues to live on in mobile devices and smart TVs, so it's not the end of days, but this doesn't offer the same latency-mitigating clout as Ethernet-wired hardware. The simple black micro PCs designed to let you play games in the living room - or anywhere else in the house away from your gaming rig - is sold out everywhere and it seems Valve has no plans to produce more. ![]()
